Arbour Square Nursery
About Us
Welcome to New City Nursey Arbour Square!
Our nursery is a 25 place Ofsted registered setting owned by the College and operating in the rear grounds of the Arbour Square building, London E1 0PT. The nursery can register children aged from 12 months to 5 years old.
Access to the nursery is via the main college building and benefits from wide automated doors, a lift and ramp for buggies and /or wheelchairs.
Students/parents are welcome to use an allocated area for buggy storage if they need to. However, they are kindly required to fold and appropriately store their buggy, as the space is relatively limited.
Key person approach
After securing a place in the nursery, the parent and child will be invited to attend a number of settling in sessions in order to ease the transition from home to nursery. Children are required to complete 3 settling in sessions before starting.
A key person will be allocated to each child. The role of the key person will be to work in closely with the parents/carers to ensure that children’s transition from home to nursery is as smooth as possible and the children’s individual needs are fully met both in nursery and at home.
The key person is also fully responsible for delivering a play-based learning and development programme, for observing and assessing the progress made by each child allocated to them. They will be also be the first point of call to discuss any issue regarding a child’s health, care and education needs.
Children’s learning & Development
- Our nursery is designed to follow the current legislative requirements for the Early Years. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum requires that in the first 3 years of life, children should be supported in the development of prime 3 areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Physical Development (PD), and Communication and Language (CL). After 3 years old, Early Years Educators support children’s development further, covering the 4 specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
- Parents can obtain detailed information about the activities provided in the nursery and age specific developmental milestones from their child’s key person. We record your child’s learning and development (Learning Journal) on an online portal, that you can view at any time. The nursery will give your own personal login.
